Watch the British Open Online - The Open Rounds 1-4 - Internet Live Stream
Wouldn’t you love to learn how to watch the British Open online this year? Referred to as the British Open in the U.S., the name is simply spoken as “The Open” in the British Isles where it remains the oldest of the golfing world’s’ four major tournaments - and the only one staged outside the U.S. It is always played the third weekend following the third Friday of July. It follows the Masters and U.S. Open but precedes the PGA Championship.
This prestigious tournament takes place this year at The Royal St George's Golf Club located along the coast in Sandwich, Kent, England. The club opened in 1887 and hosted its first Open in 1894 and has been the selected site for 13 outings up to the present. Royal St. George boasts a few exceptional aspects including quite a few holes possessing fully, or partially, blind shots. It used to be dubbed golf’s most unfair course but 20th Century modifications have reduced the number of complaints. It also owns the deepest bunker in the golf universe on its fourth hole.
The Open, itself, possesses a uniqueness compared to the other three in that it employs a four-hole playoff in the even f a tie at the end of regulation play. If the contest is still tied after a four-hole playoff, the competition continues into sudden death until a victor emerges. Competitors vie for a £ 4.8 million with £ 485,000 prize money to the tourney winner. South African Louis Oosthuizen won the 2010 Open by seven strokes.
